Frozen and Faith while snoring.

Christmas Eve was upon us and instead of waking up full of joy and excitement I woke up not feeling well. Then mom called with some sad news that one of my sister's friends son had lost his life at the age of 18 in an auto accident not far from our house. My heart truly hurt for his family. I think of how many times my boys get up early and go hunting and it could have happen to them as well. We all take for granted our love ones will come home to us.
So with that being said I wanted to make today count. I drug myself out of bed and put my game face on. See Tuesday even thought we went to what seemed like 100 store. I couldn't find Payce's snow cone maker. In a panic I bought a small fish tank and beta fish. My shopping committee mainly Julie said it was a terrible idea, but I thought what girl wouldn't love to get a fish. It was the first time she wouldn't get what she ask for on her Christmas list, but a fish makes it better right?? Well when I got up and moving I realized the fish I bought yesterday was dead. I know what you are think how in the hell did you kill a beta fish? The answer was I didn't know, but a dead fish, sick mom and no snow cone maker on Christmas Eve was not a great combination. So what was a girl to do other then network. I posted it on Facebook I need a Frozen snow cone maker and a fish with in 30min we had a Snow cone maker. Thanks to Erica she got on line and it was ready for pick in Bryan. Not only did she pay for it but she offered to go get it because I wasn't feeling well. I told her thanks and I would ride over with her so she didn't have to go alone but I couldn't make the trip by myself. She was so kind treating me like a old lady dropping me off at the door of the store so I wouldn't have to walk. The Frozen snow cone maker was in our hand and the taste of victory was sweet. I truly felt Christmas was saved by Erica. We went to Petco for a fish because I didn't want to brave Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve. After looking and pricing different fish we picked one and even got stuff for the "disgusting" dog the kids call Lady. We went to lunch a Panora Bread the food was very good. It was my first time eating there. Erica again was so kind to get me refills on my drink. I felt like a old person, but it was awesome. She saw I was in pain and offered to help. Christmas was saved by a Christmas Angel named Erica. Matt and I donated two brisket dinners this year for auction. One to the Marquez Fire Department and one to the Mexia Catholic Church. The Deacon won the dinner at the Church for $200 and he wanted it Christmas Eve. It was 5 pounds of potato salad and two pounds of beans and a brisket. Matt had been up since 6am cooking it to be delivered to Groesbeck at 6pm. When I got home around 5 I was not feeling well at all and the house needed to be tidy up for company tonight. Matt left for Groesbeck and I set the kids down and was honest with them and said "Mom doesn't feel well and dad is in total go mode". I ask for the kids to help clean. Well 30 min later I was crying, Thomas was in the shower and Landon and Payce were fighting. Was it to much to ask for the kids to pick up? I just wanted a little help. I told them I was done and I was taking all their gifts back. Of course my kids weren't phased because they said Granny and Nana buy the best gifts. REALLY!  I just lost my cookies. Needless to say everyone got a reality check and by the time Matt and our company arrived they were back to the kids you know and love.
I had to hurry home because we were hosting the Vandegriff Family over to have a Happy Birthday Jesus Party at 7.  Desserts were on the menu, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cupcakes, candy and pies. After desserts we headed out to look at lights on a hay ride with out hay. We used warm pillows for our butts and not near enough jackets and blankets. We went to a subdivision on the lake that was a total let down on light but not entertainment. We were freezing, laughing and singing songs. Landon ask could his hair freeze and break off. It was just that cold. The older kids complained about the weather conditions and the adults seemed to enjoy their time. After 30min searching for lights we dropped off a group at the house and grabbed more blankets and picked up a few more kids and headed to Jewett. My kids had a great time and lots of houses in town had light displays. It was so cold. We ended the night at the Boy Scout Park to admire the lights in the park that Matt and his crew set out this season. I love living in the small town to hayride right down main street on Christmas Eve with no hustle and bustle just singing Christmas songs and enjoying our families together. It was 10pm and we had to head home and get ready for midnight mass. We hugged the Vandegriff's wished them a Merry Chrismtas and rushed home to get ready for Church in Mexia. On the way to Mexia Yes home of Anna Nicole Smith I think that is a cool fact to the town we go to church in. Trust me over here I'm the only one that thinks that but I loved her. Anyway back to the drive we all fell asleep other then Matt. When we arrived Matt's parents were already at the church. As we walked in you couldn't  help but feel we were right where we needed to be at 12am Christmas day. The Church was decorated beautiful. The choir did a fabulous job getting everyone in the spirit. I'm sure Father had a nice sermon but the truth is, I feel asleep. Matt nudged to me when I started snoring. Looking around the church we were the only family with kids out that late. Matt says it is a family tradition he and his brothers all went to midnight mass. So we will continue that with our kids for the time being. Church let out and the Martin's wanted to take us to breakfast but one thing about a small town there is no place to eat at 1am in the morning. So we left Mexia and made the 45 min trip home with gifts that needed to be wrapped and Santa needed to come. Even though I said Santa wasn't coming of course he was. Now it is 2:45am and Matt and I are giving this night a farewell.

Do you wear a smile all year?

Tuesday was full of events. First we wanted to thank everyone that wears a smile while working all year in the Community . Red brought 3 Elf on the Shelf goody boxes to be filled with homemade goodies. The kids and I got right to work on baking and of course I burned 3 batches of cookies and ruined the popcorn. Thank God Nicole had made treats for us and I had a few things in the cabinet to fill the boxes. I really suck at cooking but I thought how hard is to make popcorn and frozen cookies? PRETTY HARD! The kids could only pick 3 people they tossed around many names Meagan from Marquez Post Office, The City of Jewett ladies, the ladies at the Chamber and I really wanted them to pick the cashier's at Family Dollar. I really let them pick.
First was Jewett's police Chief Sean O'Rielly. He seems to really enjoy the kids, donates to all the school fundraisers and really supports the events the kids participate in. Landon said he liked that he always keeps them safe at the baseball park.
Next was Gilbert Garcia this man got unanimous vote. If you have ever been in to B&B in Jewett he is always stocking shelves, special ordering items or taking out groceries to people's vehicle . From being in a parking lot to the ball park he wears his smile proud. He is very kind to everyone that walks in that store such a asset to our community. So glad the kids at such a young age could see that.
Next was Jofran. Payce loves her!! We don't know her very well, but Payce adores her. When Payce is playing dress up her name is always Jofran. When ever the kids go in D&D Jofran always seems so happy to see them and buys whatever they are peddling for the day. We are very blessed to have met some wonderful people since we have made the big move over.
Next on my to do list was Shopping. Matt watched the kids and I headed to Bryan with Julie and her mom we went to 20 to 25 stores seriously. You learn something everyday about people I was shocked to learn all the shopping tricks and methods these these two ladies have. Lets just say they have mad shopping skills and I was so glad they let me tag along. I had to laugh writing this because the day was filled with so much laughter and we even talked about not blogging about all their shopping secrets. Invite yourself to go shopping with these two and I promise you won't regret it and you will have so much fun. I was shocked with how many people use cash to make their purchases I don't carry cash because I always lose it. When you think about it when it is gone it is gone so you don't over spend. Great idea just don't know if it works for me.
I know y'all are saying,"Thought you did layaway". Oh I do and did, but as Thomas gets older it is hard to put all his gifts on layaway. He wanted a North Face Jacket and Hurley shirt. I always save $100 for last minute gifts the kids think they can't live with out or can't go on layaway. All the kids got IPad chargers and Payce wanted a Frozen Snowcone maker and Journal. Landon wanted a game. It was an eventful day filled with love and laughter.

Twist on Painting with the Sharp's.

Monday was family fun with the Sharp's. Our theme was Frozen! The table was decorated Tiffany blue and black with stones and lights giving it that Christmas touch. Jana is an amazing painter and when we moved in our house she painted Matt and I a sign with our initials on it. That was the center piece I added a few white poinsettias and bam let the party begin. Our menu was breakfast for dinner cooked by the world famous Matt. We had Olaf waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy and powered & chocolate donuts. To drink we had orange juice with or with out tequila, Apple juice and milk. Nana made these awesome Ice shot glasses we sipped moonshine out of. Such a nice touch to get everyone in the Frozen theme. The margaritas were strong but good as well. Matt turned off the air so the food would be hot since he had to cook it at all different stages. We were all sweating and headed outside to enjoy a fire Thomas made. I was so hot I had to take off some of my clothes. When I came back they we're singing "tequila makes her clothes fall off ". On to the Family activities. I picked painting because Jana is such a talented artist. She painted beautiful signs for the school and Landon's birthday party.
We painted canvas snowflakes on an idea I saw on Pinterest. You tape down a snowflake design on a canvas and the kids paint the whole canvas blue and when it dries you pill the tape off and it makes a beautiful snowflake. Well I didn't have painters tape so we used scotch tape.
The kids had a wonderful time painting and the end result was awesome. We also painted Christmas ornaments. When the kids were done the adults painted on a canvas that Jana had sketched on. It was our version of Painting with a Twist in the middle of the country. I'm telling you this girl has mad skills. We were so happy Nana and Carroll came up to be with both our families. We even had a singing contest to " Let it go" Matt won. One more thing about Jana she is not only a talented painter she is a really good friend. She is always there to lend a ear and help. I'm so blessed to be her friend. She always knows what to say, when to say it and yes someday she has to tell me to stop screaming at her when I'm mad and write in caps. Thanks Jana for being a great friend but for being my friend.
Red is back! They are behaving better and Grace was on the table as we enjoyed our Christmas Breakfast for dinner party.

A Christmas Scavenger Hunt Family Style.

I didn't get any sleep last night and I just needed a break from life so what would you do at 2 in the morning plan a Christmas scavenger hunt in Bryan half way between your house and your Best friends for today. We meet at 3pm at the Mall to see Santa. First Mall Santa Payce had ever seen. Held out for Santa's Wonderland till the end just wasn't in the cards this year. The pictures I have of Santa are taken from my phone the CD copy I haven't downloaded on the computer just yet. The mall was packed it was sad no body smiling or having any Christmas spirit. I was thinking they should be so blessed to be able to buy gifts for themselves or others and not be second hand but people just seemed in a really bad mood. I loved our Santa pictures! Santa was very friendly and the Brzozozwski's took pictures with us too. Thomas had so much fun telling "Santa" what he wanted. He and I went to Buckle, Hollister and American Eagle. My kids loved sight seeing at the mall. Matt was very overwhelmed it has been years since all of us have been in the mall together. I wish I could afford everything on Thomas Wish list. I pray Plato's Closet has some designer clothes he would like.
We left the Mall and this is when the real fun started. Everyone got the same Christmas scavenger hunt list. Nicole, Me, KB, Payce and Carson made a team in one vehicle and Matt, Caleb, Baby Gavin, Landon and Thomas made another team. The requirements were at least two people on your team had to be in the picture and you only had two hours to complete and be at the Golden Corral by 6pm.

I can not express the fun and excitement we all had with event. I will give you the report from the girls team and Matt will blog tonight about the boys team. Girls team headed straight to Sonic for some sweet tea and soda's  then to a few churches and Wal-Mart after running around not really finding anything. We made a mad dash to Target with stops on the way at cell phone company's and Dairy Queen both stores had Green, white and blue lights. Target was great knocked a lot of stuff off the list and my favorite part as we were leaving in front of the store our team started singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" as loud as we could. Yelp flash mob style. People thought we were crazy but truly us together is crazy. The only thing left on our list was a Manger Scene and carolers. The old Navy commercials always looks so cheerful so we all ran in and ask shoppers to sing with us. I'm sure they thought they were being punked. Two different groups sung with us. Now the hunt was on for a Manger Scene you know the true meaning of Christmas. Pier one didn't have one and when we ask the cashier at World Market for one she had to call the manager over because she didn't know what I was talking out. REALLY?!?! The manager apologized, but they didn't have one either. We went through a whole tank of gas so glad gas dropped to $2.09. We did beat the boys to Golden Corral.

The journey of the boys team wrote by Matt. We left the girls and decided we would head straight to Wal-Mart and get all the pictures done in about 5 minutes. Needless to say Wal-Mart was sold out of almost everything. So then we run across the street to Lowe's knowing they would have what we needed. They ended up having a lot of the things we were looking for. We found a huge church and went inside right before the evening service was fixing to start and took our picture of the Nativity and the Christmas Star. we only needed five more items and figured that the girls would throw a fit if we didn't get some pictures in people's yards. So we headed into different subdivisions looking for what we needed. We would knock on people's doors and ask if we could take pictures with the items we needed. Everyone was so nice and let us take our pictures. We were finished with everything with 45 minutes left except for one and we drove around and drove around looking for it. Finally with 10 minutes left to be at the restaurant we ran into a Family Dollar and found  a box that said "NOEL" got the picture and drove as fast as we could to get there on time. Got there a little but the Boys beat the Girls really bad on the scavenger hunt because "Boys rule and Girls drool".

When we all got to the Golden Corral we were all loud with excitement. It felt like we were the only ones there like the world had stopped and God smiled down on us for two hours and let our families bond. I have never seen Matt laugh so hard in years. We laughed till we cried and even sung the "Lion King" theme song a few Times. We did apologize to the manager once and she said "go right ahead laughing it is Christmas". We ate till we were sick. We all knew the night would have to end. As we made our way to the parking lot Nicole of course couldn't come empty handed she always has it together. She made Thomas his favorite cake balls, cupcakes and popcorn. As we are driving home I can't help but wipe tears out of my eyes. She is always up for my ideas and whenever we get together it is like we never moved. I love her and her family so much.
Red is still not back and Grace is just sitting praying we are all making the right choices.

Last day of school fun!

First thing yesterday morning I had to be at the school and make sure everything was ready for Payce's party. I love being the room mom when you have such awesome mom's and teacher's. They make life so easy! Everyone brought what they said and more. Had to run to the store and pick up things for Landon's party. Then off to work I went only to be back at the school at 10:15am for the program. The program was great! Landon was to cool he thought to sing, but he was so handsome. The 4th grade teachers ask to borrow Payce's dress to pull off Elsa and Anna. When the girls sang "Let it go" I had a tear in my eye. Payce's class did the reindeer rap and she got the part of the Elf then they changed it to Mrs. Claus.  She did a good job!! After the program the Christmas parties started Landon was wild and Payce's party was easy and great. Then at noon I headed back to work. The kids got a Rubik's Cube the other day. Thomas picked it up at 1pm today and didn't put it down till 4:30 and solved it. He is so smart! I really wish he believe in his self and didn't think it was cool to be the class clown. I love that boy so much.
Payce and Landon's Santa letter made the newspaper. Landon wants a iPad charger and she wanted 3 things 1) IPad charger 2) IPod and writing bold (I have no idea what that is ).

We finally made our way home and all took naps. The school was hosting a play called a "Christmas wizard of Oz" and I really wanted to go but the kids didn't. Matt wasn't going to be able to go and the cash he gave me I left at work. So I was like forget it we won't go. I thought about it for awhile and thought it is not the Trans Siberian Orchestra we are use to going to, but we are going to a play this year. So I made everyone get up and get dressed and we drove back to town to get money and we headed to the play. I have to admit this was fabulous we had a marvelous time. It has been the best thing we have done this Christmas season. My kids laughed, sang and danced. Landon looked at me one time and said "mom this is so much fun". Thomas said "mom we have to come back next year" and of course Payce said "I'm trying out for the play next year." To bad tonight was the last night because we would be going back to watch it again. So proud of all the students, teacher's and parents that helped with the play it was perfect.
I had $15 that I put it in my empty bag of snow at the play and then forgot and through it away. When we left I was like crap and had to dig through 100 Brown bags to find it. So we did. $15.00 is a lot to my family!
The best part of the night was driving home and saw my neighbors lights on and I knew they were not home and someone was parked in their driveway. I called and ask was anyone supposed to be there and she said no. I dropped the kids off at the house and headed to her house to see who was parked in the driveway it was a married couple making out with each other. YES YOU TWO KNOW YOU WERE. The good news is they were married to each other. It was a good laugh and I'm sure now the couple thinks I'm a nosy neighbor and don't know how Shawn and Julie do it. I chalk it up to country living, I'm doing my neighborly duty you two.
I also took a Facebook quiz called What is your Christmas IQ? I got 46% and was labeled a Scrooge really!! Ok if you say so Facebook.
Grace and Red had sad news to report today. Red didn't come back from the North Pole. Santa sent a note and said they had been so bad and disrespectful that he giving up this year he brought coal and the note personally and took one present that was under the tree. Of course the kids were crying. Grace was here because God is always with you.

All aboard the crazy train

I would like to take tonight and thank my husband for being amazing. Our life isn't easy and more times then not it is very stressful, but he always makes it work. He is a wonderful father and provider and this year he has been a wonderful husband and I don't make it easy(he doesn't either). I do believe he loves me and with love you can conquer anything. I had a sign made that said " We may not have it all together but together we have it all". I truly believe that sums up the way I feel about him and our family.
To prove my love I downloaded candy crush today so I could send him life's. He is on level 215!! Late bloomer to the game but he is a little addicted. When he passes a level he has been stuck on he gets so excited. Like a kid at Christmas.
So now on to the Polar Express Train ride. I LOVED IT!! I would definitely go again next year. Landon however didn't love it, but he is the one always talking about wanting a train. Payce was at the perfect age and loved every minute of it. Thomas didn't say or do much other then get in trouble the first 5 min we were on the train. It was the perfect experience for Matt and I. The instructions said be an hour early. Of course we roll in there at 4:46 train leaves at 5:00 and I was panicking but it worked out great. No lines, cart wasn't full. They did a great job pulling off the theme. So glad we added it to our Christmas calendar this year.
After we left the Polar Express we went to eat at a restaurant called Little Mexico it was the best quesadillas I have ever had. We were very blessed because a family paid for our meal. Yelp wouldn't let us pay. I think about all this couple has been through this week and they still had a smile on their face. Matt and I have been so blessed this year to surround ourselves with power couples.  What I mean by that is they are strong in their faith and love their spouses. Such inspiration to any family especially mine.
Grace and Red were riding the train and bought the kids new Pajamas. I forgot to get a picture. I have really been slacking on the Angel and Elf but we have been really learning a lot about the Bible and the true meaning of Christmas. The kids haven't been great this season. I really wish they could get coal and nothing else, but I just can't do it. I guess Christmas is for me just as much as it is for them.
P.S. I can't wait for next year to help host a event I read on the bulletin board in Palestine. New ideas for Christmas is my favorite and to bring it to our town makes me  super excited.

Alive and well to board the train of life.

Today has been a day of healing. I woke up feeling like I had been in a boxing match my sides and back seemed sore to the touch. Only feeling 50% my normal self this morning I was worried if I could pull this evening off. Then about noon I had a pain I have never felt before. Rushed to the bathroom thinking I was delivering a elephant and thinking I was done for and life was going to be over in the bathroom. The pain was gone after a few minutes. It was the weirdest thing ever. Googled it and seems like I had a kidney stone. Still just a little sore.
Our after school event was to tell the kids we are going to the Polar Express because my family has decided not to go to Santa Wonderland this year. I have very mixed feeling about it, but it is what it is.
The Noey family came over because they are going with us tomorrow. We told the kids tonight at the same time. To say they were excited was a understatement. We ate tortilla rolls, fruit, ham &cheese,  cookies and cupcakes and the kids loved the decorations. I used thing that I had around the house like the table cloth was just a pink sleeping bag. Carley read the Polar Express and I hid silver Bells all over the house. When the book was over the kids ran all over the house looking for the bells. It was fun to watch the kids find them and shack them to hear them ring.  Grace and Red bought a Gingerbread train kit. This was more for the big kids, but the little ones had a fun time as well. This idea however was a huge epic fail. It was very hard and would not stay together.
The entertainment for the night was the kids practicing their school program. Payce wanted to do hers alone, Landon wouldn't do his and Halle wanted everyone to dance. Matt stole the show.  Then we looked up our Elf names. Uh My name is, uh My name is "Happy Peppermint".
Then we moved on to the movie "The Polar Express". Hot chocolate and popcorn were on the menu for this and the kids got comfy and we settled in for a long winters nap.
The kids were so thankful and had the best time. Can't wait to ride The Polar Express tomorrow.

Painful Start to the week!

This has been very painful week for me. The last time I felt this bad I ended up in the emergency room. I was only one more "Do you want to go to emergency room?" from saying yes. The pain seems better. I'm sure it is just stress and how my body deals with it, but it I'm sure I'm pretty close to death. I know you are saying what in the world does she have. Self diagnosing I have a urinary tract infection and maybe I let that go to long and moved into my kidneys. My back is killing me! I'm drinking water, cranberry juice and taking AZO.
Today I got inspiration from a dear friend. Saying Jana is having a horrible day would be a understament. She is sick, has sick kids and someone stole her identity and took her for way over $700 right here at Christmas. With the kids party to plan, Christmas to buy and sick kids needing to go to the doctor. She showed up at school with very little tears in her eyes, dressed perfect, jewelry and make up on. I would be curled up in a ball. I think it was amazing to see her today facing the day and weeks to come with a smile. So blessed to know such powerful lady.
Today we were invited to a Ugly Sweater Christmas Party to say I was excited was a understatement. I took off work today so I could lay around and not move thinking that would make me feel better. At 3:00 when I went to get the kids I barely made it out of the jeep into the house after picking them up. I had to text and say I couldn't make it. I immediately start thinking why is this happening to me. I have a big week and I really wanted our whole family to go to the party tonight. The answer came very quick and a lady showed up at the house looking for a dog and Matt and the kids helped her look for it. Then we got a call from a neighbor that needed Matt's help. So I feel God didn't need me but our community needed my family. The party was to start at 6:00 our first neighbor arrived at 6:00 if we would have been in Buffalo my family wouldn't have been able to help her or the other neighbor.
Let me add this about our town yesterday I was out and about on pain meds I had left over from my wisdom tooth and went to different places and saw one business had adopted a family. One Grade level had adopted another family. One business was doing a can food drive and the school was full of gifts they were giving to needy family. Things like this make me proud. We are a very small town strapped financially and it seems everyone still donated to something.
Payce sung at the nursing home today. She said she wasn't scared of the people just made her miss her old Nan.
Grace and Red haven't done much this week. I will post pictures tomorrow of their activities.

Merry and Moonshine.

Saturday morning alarm clock was Payce screaming from the living room. I have a fever, I'm dying with a fever of 97.9. Landon had an archery tournament and only had one arrow. Matt rushed to Madisonville to buy arrows and realized when he got there the archery shop wasn't opened for business yet . Thank goodness the club he shoots with had arrows. My mom came up to watch Landon shoot in his tournament. I was so proud of Landon, he shot with no sights or release and scored an 87 and got second place. That makes two second places and one third for the year.
After the tournament Mom and I went shopping at the Last Stop Holiday Shop In Jewett, headed to the Flea Market and had lunch with Kristy.
To end the night we had a few people over that helped us move in the house. Matt and I are so blessed for these guys. They believe in Matt and our family and Matt has the honor of calling them co workers. I call them the "twins".  They always have a smile on their faces and are willing to work. We have been so blessed to have people believe is us and so glad to call them friends. In 14 years my kids never shock me and last night they did. They started calling a lady at the party new mom. Even this morning when I told Payce to brush her hair she said"New mom wouldn't make me brush my hair"
Red got in a wrestling match. We told the kids sometimes you fight and have misunderstanding but if you truly love each other nothing will ever tear you apart. Grace was in Red's corner for support just like we try to teach our kids always back your siblings no matter what.

Today is Sunday! We missed church and headed out to Payce's dance recital. Dad and Mom came. When we got to the dance recital we realized we needed a toy for "Toys for Tots". So Matt went to the dollar store and picked up a toy and while we were backstage getting ready he also surprised her with flowers. He is such an amazing father. Payce did such a great job during her parts of the recital. We have been taking ballet and tumbling at Flip and Twist in Centerville. I wanted her to take ballet to be more graceful and elegant. We may need a few more years. Her tumbling was awesome. Her cartwheels are perfect. So proud of her today.
I keep thinking God doesn't give us more then we can handle but days like today I really pray he has a plan for my family.
Red and Grace went to a Christmas Spa. Christmas Barbie massage Red and Grace was getting a chocolate bath. I was so jealous of her I really want and need a day in a chocolate spa. We talked about how God rested on the 7th day and it was ok to do nothing ever now and then.

Walk like a chicken and talk like a lady.

Yesterday was just like any normal American families day. Went to the school and volunteered and delivered fundraiser packages to all the classes. Lets just say the UPS drivers don't get paid enough. Packages were everywhere and some even fell off the cart as I lost control going down the slop. I was so stressed I called Payce's teacher the wrong name and I was leaving the school I realized I walked around the school and talked to all the teachers with my pants unzipped.
Got home and texted all the moms that wanted to help with the kids Christmas party at school. I love being the room mom when you have so many moms wanting to help makes life so easy. Matt called about 10am and was like babe where are you? I forgot it was parents eat lunch with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Christmas dinner. To surprise us Matt brought subway, but couldn't stay because work obligations. So of course I jumped up ran out of the house like a crazy woman to make it on time then my phone is started ringing it was Erica on the other end saying Payce forgot her lunch. Thank God Matt bought me lunch so she ate mine. Made it to the school just in time. I love hearing about all boyfriend, girlfriend drama at 10 makes me laugh. One girl actually said that Landon told her he was to pretty to go out with her.
Thomas stayed after school Thursday for tutoring and when Payce got in the car she looked very sickly. We got home and I unloaded some bags from the car and she was asleep by the time I made it inside. So we skipped dress rehearsal for dance.
Yesterday was also our turn for the Pay it Forward. If you don't know what it is, It is a group of people called the Supremes that organize and adopted a family in a December project. Everyday they assign one person to go shopping and ship the item the next day. The idea is for the family to receive a box everyday. It is a prestige thing I think to be signed a day, if you don't get a day you donate money and on the 20th they send the money to the family. Really it is just an amazing honor to be involved. They truly capture the true meaning of Christmas and is filled through out the group everyday.
Grace and Red gave the kids Christmas Cards to send to to the 6 year old little girl in Utah collecting cards.
Today could have went down hill and it wasn't even 8am, but I decided to not let what happen control my day and get the best of me. This year I have grown so much mentally and quickly turned what could have been a day full of drama in to a day marking something off my bucket list. Ever since we moved to this area chickens are EVERYWHERE houses that is. I have never seen so many chicken trucks. At school I would always hear people say. He works at the chicken houses, I have to walk chickens today, etc. So of course I had to add walking chicken houses to my bucket list. Yep That is what I did today. The chickens were 18 days old. I can't cross it off my bucket list just yet because I want to go back when the are about 55 days old. I can't explain the smell other then overpowering at times. I only gagged once at the incinerator. It was a eye opening experience. This Chicken farm was called a Wing & Prayer I had to laugh because that is what I was thinking when I walked in my first chicken house. My experience was great and I can't wait to go back. The birds were well taken care of. It was great to see the ends and out of the business. I had to take a bath and a shower to get that smell off me. It did stink but as of now I'm still eating chicken.
The big news out of school today is Thomas straightened his hair. He even made snap chat and Instagram. Now that is big news in our small town. He looked like Bo Duke. When I picked him up I had to put my hand over my mouth. I guess he needs a hair cut
. Landon's teacher sent me this message today. Landon just came in here and sat on my couch and said hi....Im your "thermalist" may i help you....sooooo i said huh....my what???? my thermostat????  he says nooooo your thermalist...you know someone who listens when you have problems. I said....honey.....thats a therapist!!!!!!!!!!! I laugh at my kids everyday and it is great to see so many other people get to know their personalities and love and laugh at them too.
Grace and Red Were climbing the tree together. We were showing the kids that it takes team work to get to the top. You need each other and how it is important it is to relay on each other from time to time.

Our Soldier's Christmas Greeting's Event

Today has been a very emotional day in the Martin house hold. We were so blessed by the out pouring of support shown for our Soldier's Christmas Greeting's event. Because of my loyal blog readers and friends we were able to collect, fill out and mail 280 Christmas cards. I would like to thank y'all from the bottom of my heart.
So Here are the facts about sending Christmas cards to Walter Reed Army Medical Center! PLEASE DON'T send Christmas cards to Walter Reed made out to A recovering America Solider. They will throw them away in the trash!!!! Here are the reasons why! The U.S. Postal Service will not accept mail addressed to "Any Soldier," "Any Wounded Soldier," or the like because if it did, it could be providing a conduit for those who might do harm to armed services members. Such offerings are either returned to sender (if a return address has been provided or if one is found within the package) or donated to charities (if no address for the sender is found). Similarly, military hospitals will not accept letters, cards, or packages addressed in such manner for the same reason. Such beneficences, no matter how kindly meant, are not permitted to reach the soldiers they were intended for.
It was very hard to find a organization that we could send Christmas cards to. So after doing hours of research on all the different organizations and what was true and false about sending Christmas cards to warriors. The Valiant Veterans was the group we went with their campaign was called Operation Christmas card. They were easy to work with the only thing is they had strict requirements.-minimum of 5 heartfelt, appreciative or supportive sentences (remember for some this is the only mail they will get) This was very hard since we were sending out 280 in one night.
-please do NOT seal the envelope
-cards can be hand made or store bought
-envelopes can decorated
-children may draw photos and color pictures as well, these are loved by all as many have children
-please do NOT put stamps on each envelope. We mail in bulk as it is cheaper and easier
-you may include your email or return address to be contacted back (please remember, not all will right back as they may not have the ability to send return mail, or the time as many are in combat zones)
-you may include photos, however, these need to be family friendly and appropriate. Please respect our service members and remember that this is not a dating service.
-DEADLINE December 12, 2014
To say are fingers and hands hurt is a understatement but we laughed till we cried and even made up a new language. We were so blessed to have the McCoslin family over to share this experience with us. We went for a all American Theme Dinner hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and dip, smores mix, fruit and apple pie. It was great to hear stories about their dad when he was serving in the military. We can't tell you how Thankful we were to have the community behind us this night. We stand tall, proud and managed to write out enough Christmas Cards to represent the entire city of Marquez. Does my heart good to know we made a difference in so many people's life. I'm just so proud of our town to be apart of this great event. I feel so humbled by this experience.
Today Red and Grace wrapped the house and got toilet paper everywhere. See I was up at 3:30am why I don't know and was sleepy at 6am so I ask Matt to move the Elf well that is what he came up with. He said it was a funny on me, because everyone know you don't mess with mommies trees. The kids loved it!!
I just want to say My dashing through the dough contest is going terrible!! I ate the best McRib and fries today and two sodas. Fat girl for life. Word! I will do better tomorrow.
Today was our day for the Pay it forward in the Supreme Group. Can't wait to tell you all about it tomorrow.
So proud of Payce she placed 5th overall in UIL today. It was four schools participating.
The kids are on the up hill swing of their sickness. Tomorrow is my volunteer day at the school. Fundraiser stuff is In!! Payce got her Limo ride and Landon will be so happy to get his race track.
In closing I want to say from the bottom of my heart Thank you for making tonight possible and having faith that our families could represent Marquez and getting these cards to the RIGHT organization for our military to enjoy a card this Christmas season. Truly blessed to call y'all my friends and this our town.

Ain't got time for that

Yesterday the Martin family was sick.  We all have a fever and cough. Matt and I were in a coughing contest last night and the kids were coughing to Deck the Halls with medicine. Cough, cough, cough,  cough, cough.
One thing this family doesn't do sick. We have a full schedule this week "Ain't nobody got time to be sick". Payce missed dance yesterday and only made it for 30min today so we could go to Hilltop Lakes and see Santa fly in on a helicopter and give out Candy Canes.
I waited on Payce for 45 minutes at school today and to find out she wasn't even at UIL practice because in her words she got kicked out. She was horsing around not listening. Tomorrow is her competition so excited for her. Now to figure out what for her to wear.
I was ask to help with Payce's Christmas party at school and felt up for the challenge till I talked to other parents and what they are doing for there kids party. So I got on Pinterest and felt like a total failure as a parent with the ideas I had.
Tomorrow is our big "Soldier Christmas Greeting's" event. Sending cards to the soldiers and wounded warriors. We almost have enough to represent each citizen in our small town by sending Christmas card.

Yesterday Red was in the Ice maker because someone (Landon) thought he needed a kiss. We talked to the kids about the fact that just because you put him in the ice maker doesn't make him better just as Going to church doesn't  make you a Christian. You have to spread God's message not only in your words but your actions.
I asked Landon why he kissed Red and he said "I just love him being in our family so much." Its hard to be upset or let him (Red) suffer to long but Landon needed to suffer for a little while. So Today Red and Grace were in the hospital (freezer) all day. He didn't fly home to Santa last night and Grace didn't leave his side. What a great pair those two make. We really are going to have to step it up tonight and have them make a HUGE comeback in the morning.

Whirlwind of Crap!

I'm so freaked out right now. I'm a big person in signs from the Lord and driving home tonight there was a truck that I followed till I got home that said crap only. Was that God saying I'm full of crap? What I write is crap? I'm so bothered by this. I know the blog is titled The Angel and Elf and it is all about My family. OMG is God saying my family is full of crap? I'm tabling this right now because I'm so over thinking it.
This weekend was nothing like I planned but we still managed to do all that was on the schedule just not how we thought it would go down.

This morning dad brought the babies back at 7am because Payce was sick. Thomas is still sick and now Payce and I had to work today. I called Matt and he came home from the deer lease to watch them. Landon went with me to work and to see Santa.
Today Landon and I went to the Old Fashioned Christmas in Jewett. Landon and I had a great time.
I wore a Santa hat because my hair was greasy and it was festive. After The event was over I went to the grocery store and saw people I knew and said I really wouldn't wear this in public and remember I was in public looking like a complete dork.
I drive all the way home behind the truck that said crap only. We know how that went and I walk in the door and Payce and Thomas are sick. Thomas says "mom we have seen Tammy the movie all day and you look and act just like her." That is not a compliment. I LOOK AND ACT LIKE TAMMY REALLY?? Matt was cooking a wonderful dinner and the kids are sick. Doctors visits are not in the budget for December and It makes me sad. My schedule has been all jacked this weekend but some how we worked it out. I worked 6 hours, saw 3 Santa's, got to see my dad, Matt got to hunt alone and the boys got to hunt, dance pictures done and two blog post. Now we are finally watching a movie, drinking hot chocolate and eating popcorn. We managed to do it all just not on my schedule and the Man upstairs always trumps my schedule.
If you know me you know I'm obsessed with the kids matching. They all normally match everyday. Yes all three of them. So I'm going to post Seven days of fashion. Just in case you are judging me and thinking this girl is always asking for something and her kids dress better then mine I have a system. I will share with you soon.  Sometimes it is not easy getting all three of them to pose for pictures every morning, but I try.
On to The Angel and Elf I forgot to move them. Thomas was the only one home and when dad called I wasn't thinking to moving him. So I came up with Red reading the Bible and I couldn't find Grace anywhere this morning so Red went solo. He was doing the right thing and didn't need Grace. I need a drink of wine because My kids think I'm like Tammy and The Lord thinks I'm Full of Crap and I'm exhausted from Chasing Christmas with three healthy kids on Friday and two sick kids Sunday.
I may be pre hangry(mad because your hungry). I haven't started my diet yet but I have it on my mind for tomorrow. I have to lose 10 pounds to get my money back and feel better about myself. It is to early to be hangry when I haven't even started.
Is P.S. still cool ? Anyway P.S. 115 Christmas cards and 6 books of stamps how freaking awesome is this town? FREAKING AWESOME. I still need 150 but if I don't get It I feel totally blessed.

Doing what we love in this life.

How else would the Martin's start a Saturday then at 5am. The boys got up and headed out with my dad that came up for the weekend to go hunting on family land near Kossie. Matt Headed to Huntsville to hunt at the deer lease and Payce and I started a full day of Chasing Santa. First we went to the Lake Limestone Fire Department  Breakfast with Santa they do such a great job for the kids and Matt's parents even joined us. Then we headed to Marquez for "Christmas at the Ranch". This is our second year to attend both events and we have had a great time and I'm starting to recognize so many faces. Then we went to Centerville for Lunch. I wanted to eat somewhere that we had never eaten at. We drive around and found a cafe called "Town Cafe". It had a very small town feel and we loved it. We split the special that was very good. The cafe could have made a country song or commercial. One table had a couple totally making out, one table was high school football boys being very respectful, two tables looked like widower men, the other was a married couple catching up on the week and then there was us. Great price and awesome people watching. I give this place a 10.
Now on to dance pictures. You would think this would be stress free and a fun ending to the day's activities, but No!! Our dance group hired a lady to do hair and makeup she did a fabulous job and to say Payce was in her element would be a understatement. I can't even explain her behavior. She was in rare form. It was for sure one of the times you fell in love with her or thought she was a total brat and I'm the worst parent ever. I totally blame Nicolette and KK for encouraging bad behavior. You guys were a perfect audience for her. The more they laughed at everything she did, the more crazy acting Diva came out. It was a long 3 hours with her behavior. We lost her ballet shoes weeks ago so no ballet shoes for the pictures. I'm always so close to having it together and miss the boat every time. It was great to have mom's in the group that help when I fall short. Thanks ladies!!
Payce and I get home to enjoy our Red Box Christmas movies and a evening filled with hot chocolate, popcorn and Pizza. Then my dad calls and says he is bringing the boys home that Thomas is sick and he killed a hog. When he gets here Payce has a total melt down because she wanted to go with him. Remember a few sentences up she had her make up done. Well of course she has mascara all over her face and so dad agreed to take her. DRAMA!!!! I'm exhausted. We are still sending out Christmas cards to the troops this season. If you would like to donate cards or stamps so that we may reach more please contact me. Cards and Stamps can be picked up in Leon County! With this being said I would like you to know that their was a envelope at the post office with my name on it today. Someone had donated 5 books of stamps and $30 cash to get Christmas cards. I had another lady buy one book of stamps for me. More details on my givers on Wednesday stay tuned. Yes I cried in the post office when I got the package. So me being a over achiever I would like to send 263 Christmas cards out to the troops and wounded warriors. That would be one from each person in our small town. Come on guys I need 100 more Christmas cards and stamps. It it would be like the whole community sent a Christmas card to The troops and wounded warriors. I can't tell you how awesome this project will be and to know we sent enough out to be from the whole town that would be amazing. Feeling blessed.
Ok Red and Grace were playing in Payce's horses. She was the only one hear this morning after the boys left so I came up with something she loved since Today we were all doing something we loved. Hunting, shopping and chasing Santa.

Our Jesus Celebration

Today Grace and Red's message was to Share the word of the Lord. We invited The Morris family over after school today for the kids to share the story of the birth of Jesus and to celebrate his life on Earth. The ages of the kids were 15, 10, 7, 7, 6, 4 and 4 month old baby. We really let the kids lead the conversation and their knowledge of Jesus. It was great to hear their take. Some read from a book and some prayed and others just talked freely. Thomas read The Christmas Angel Book, the kids were really excited to learn and hold Grace.
We had After school snacks that were a manger scene made with pretzels and kolaches, birthday cupcakes, candy canes "J" For Jesus and fruit. The punch was red of course with a ice ring made by Winter Adams. The food was perfect!
The kids presented the Morris' with a Fisher Price Little People nativity scene. And Grace and Red left the Martin's a huge candy cane That represented blood and purity. It was truly a blessed event.

Today was the last day to weigh in for dashing through the dough (fat). I was pretty happy with my weight I had only gained 14 pounds since I have stopped walking. I was able to keep 20 pounds off. We ended up with 11 ladies participating. 3 weeks and 10 pounds! I got this. Little fact about me I hate pumping gas and always have!! Well I knew the truck was close to running out of gas and Matt had a flat in his company truck and took the his truck today. Guess who ran out of gas? He had the guys from work bring him gas. My bad!
I'm still taking donations for Christmas cards and stamps. I really need stamps. December 10th is the last day! I have talked to the two banks in town and I will get the answer if they can donate stamps Monday.
Today I had one message from a blog reader that said they ordered "The Christmas Angel" because of us. I also had another one that said go by the local post office from 8:30 -11:30 there was a envelope waiting for me. I then I had a really sweet message from a local that said the most wonderful things about my family and really welcomed us to the area.
My dad is coming up for the weekend. We are going to three Christmas events. Breakfast with Santa, Christmas at the Ranch and The old fashion Christmas. We are Santa chasers this weekend. With all the boys going hunting.
The moon is beautiful tonight please go outside and enjoy one of God's creations. It is breathe taken .

Don't live for the Season but for a Reason

Yesterday is gone by and I didn't post a picture of Our Angel and Elf. They did let your Light shine. I bought glow sticks at The Dollar Tree and of course they didn't work, but I think the kids got the idea. I have been in such a rut since Monday. My light has not shined for Jesus this week. I guess I feel a little like a dog chasing a car. What are they going to do with it when they catch it? I chase Christmas all year and now that it is here I'm like now what. I just feel like I'm going through the motions for some reason this year. Then this happened today. I was in the local grocery store we were spending our last $23.00 till payday tomorrow on milk, eggs, bread, the essentials and I had picked up little Debbie Christmas tree brownies to put in the kids lunch tomorrow that were not on the list. When I got to the counter it all rang up $25.05 I said put the little Debbie snack cakes back and paid for my items. As I was getting our stuff and headed out to the car a man said here ma'am y'all have a Merry Christmas and he had bought the snack cakes. Landon was so appreciative he tried to give him the change in his pocket and the man wouldn't take it. I said Thank You of course. I was also blessed with a message on Facebook from a family that said they started the Elf on the Shelf tradition this year because of the Martin's. I have been working on Two projects for the upcoming week today. Sending Christmas cards to the troops over seas and  wounded warriors and also our Jesus celebration tomorrow. I had someone donate almost 100 Christmas cards so now I really need stamps. I have had two people send PayPal but if you live in the area and would like to donate stamps please let me know I will pick them up. This is a new activity I have added to our Christmas season. We have no money in the budget for it but its such a great cause.
Our Jesus celebration is tomorrow and I'm super excited about this. I really want the kids to talk to other kids about the birth of Jesus and the reason for the season.
Today Red made a snow Angel to be more like Grace. It was a lesson for all the kids. Don't try to be like anyone else be yourself. Some people will like you, some won't , but as along as your true to yourself it doesn't matter what others think. This is the only way you will be happy in your own skin. I think of myself in my skin the only thing that really bothers me is my weight. All the skinny mom's that always look perfect I'm so envious of their hair, nails and clothes. So a group of us decided to got together and do dashing through the dough (fat) this holiday. A contest to lose 10 pounds by Christmas. Just something to make you feel a little better by Christmas. Tomorrow is the last day to sign up please go by the chamber it is fun for all. Reading my blog post tonight I have to laugh because yesterday I was asked was my blog an advertisement for the city. Of course it is NOT but reading it tonight I may could see where they came up to that conclusion.
Tonight Landon is wrapping gifts and making notes for his teachers how sweet is that. The Angel and all her messages are having a hug effect on the whole family and I love it.
My last comment will be about the Nucor kids Christmas Party. I tried every way to score a invite. You have to work there to be invited and Matt and I do not. They were setting it up yesterday for the party and it is Disney themed. To say it was over the top awesome was a under statement. I so wanted to go . Makes me want to get a job there so I can go next year. Payce had a outfit but no invite. I know it is a awesome thing they do for their families I just want to whine because it is a Christmas party and Disney theme!!

Friends for a reason not during a season.

Today as I attend a meeting at the high school first thing in the morning I was greeted by a Christian organization in the foyer singing and praising the Lord. How great is that? I didn't know every morning my child walks in to school first rattle out of the box and he is hearing the sounds of kids his age praising and worshiping. Now it would have been great if he was in that group but hey I'm just so happy in a public school this happens.
Thomas is having a rough year. I know he is 15 and everyone says the teen years are hard. It makes me sad that he doesn't see if he would try a little we would be having a different outcome. I don't know how to really help. I can tell you 100 ways Matt and I did a terrible job and where we went wrong. I just love him so much and want to prostect him from the big bad world. I think about bullying and how important it is for kids to make friends in high school and how this effects Thomas so much. Then I'm remind myself of my friends and  High school friends. High School friends I married Matt and my dear friend Angie is still very involved in our life. Matt and I ask her to be the kids Godparents. It is hard to think some friends you have for the season and some you have forever. I have friends I look at as role models, some inspire me in their faith. I have three friends I think of that make me be a friend, that a friend would like to have. One is a high school friend named Deana. I think of her often and thought we are not close now and I think of that time at her house my boyfriend broke up with me, partially my fault and she let me cry and really listened. She never past judgment on me that day and today I really try to be that friend like Deana was. She makes me not judge others and be more understanding and sometimes the best things to do is listen with no advice.
Second is Nicole. If you have never met my friend Nicole then you haven't met the other part of me. I miss her since we have moved and sometimes my heart aches. We don't see each other every day and we don't talk as much as we should. I can say this girl has truly saved my life more times then I can count. Nicole makes me want to strive to be and do better each day.
My last one is Erica. I have known her the shortest amount of time but feel blessed to know her. She really has everyone's best interest at heart. So many times when I didn't want to get out of bed there she was not taking "no" for answer. Without her I do believe my world would be so different right now. Erica makes me take that extra effort to check on a friend, try to be more understanding of others and speck my mind a little more and don't  ride the fence.
I don't talk to these ladies everyday but I do feel I will always be indebted to them for teaching me life lessons. I have made a lot of friends over my life time. Some I even think of as family. I truly love and an grateful for and couldn't imagine life with out them but these three really make me who I am today on a friend scale.
Living in this small town has reminded me just how blessed I am with friends. I have made so many friends that seem to really care and not want to gossip behind my back. God has put so many amazing people or brought them back in my life this last year. I hope they are not friends for the season, but I do understand people come and go in our lives for a reason. I just hope who is reading my blog today know I appreciate their friendship and how it has touched my life and made me a better person. I'm so blessed for each of you and what you bring to my table.
Well Payce has had great news this week. She made the UIL team, and the Christmas play as the Elf. The sad news is in ballet, yes I said ballet she hurt her foot doing tendus and can't walk. So we will she how this plays out. How do you get hurt in ballet???
So the reason you read my blog The Angel and Elf. Today they wrapped the kids lunch and the kids thought that was funny. The message from the Angel was thank a teacher. I can't tell you how thankful I have been for the kids teachers. Landon has 4 teachers and they all seem great. He is older and I try to take the "titty" out of his mouth and not hover over him him. Payce's teacher is Mrs Huffman and we are so blessed for her!! She is amazing. I cry thinking about her dedication to the kids and how much she cares for all of them. I feel she loves Payce very much as she does all her students. She gives 110% in teaching and it shows. Leon is lucky to have her and all the teachers they have!!
